About the job

AECOM is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Architect specializing in the design and execution of colocation and hyperscale cloud data center facilities. We are looking for a licensed architect who has a robust history of managing intricate, mission-critical projects from initial concept through to commissioning. This pivotal role will significantly influence the design of high-performance, secure, and scalable data center environments tailored to meet the demands of premier cloud and colocation clients.

This position allows for a flexible remote work arrangement and can be based from various locations across the U. S. where AECOM has an office.

While the position is primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary for client engagements, key project milestones, on-site collaboration sessions, or other essential business activities. Travel will be scheduled in advance and is expected to be infrequent.

AECOM stands as a leader in the global data center consulting arena, with strong teams in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with our global teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for international clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing position with ample opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural design for large-scale hyperscale cloud data center and colocation projects from concept through construction administration and project closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, and external stakeholders to create fully coordinated and integrated design solutions.
  • Develop and review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, ensuring adherence to codes, standards, and client design guidelines.
  • Oversee coordination with consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities to ensure project delivery and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the architectural subject matter expert for hyperscale and colocation clients, ensuring operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in facility design.
  • Mentor and guide junior architects and designers, promoting technical excellence and design innovation.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and data center design trends.
  • Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual architectural designs for new projects.
