Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire. Experience with various electrical systems. Must be a U. S. Citizen due to the nature of this work. Preferred Qualifications:10 years of recent experience in Electrical Engineering. Previous involvement with VDOT projects. Experience designing low and medium voltage power distribution systems. Familiarity with electrical codes, including the National Electric Code (NEC). Experience in scoping and drafting fees for electrical engineering components in interdisciplinary projects. Proficient in Electrical Power Calculation Software.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Lead and develop teams to successfully complete projects of various sizes.
  • Engage with both internal and external clients to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Act as the Discipline Leader for our Arlington team.
  • Design electrical power and lighting systems for diverse projects.
  • Make significant design recommendations and decisions.
  • Plan design work, estimate costs, and prepare schedules, assigning tasks to junior engineers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines including mechanical, communications, structural, ITS, civil, and equipment suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation and maintain comprehensive design data for future reference.
  • Provide guidance and review correspondence prepared by junior team members.
  • Analyze staffing requirements, troubleshoot issues, and prepare reports.
  • Participate in project meetings and delegate tasks as necessary.
  • Meet with clients, prepare proposals, and create presentations while fostering strong client relationships.
  • Lead efforts in project quality control.
  • Utilize knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles to produce technical plans and drawings.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
  • Represent the organization and maintain communication with stakeholders and related organizations.
