Role Overview

The Senior Manager - Data Protection Officer (DPO) manages Cornmarket’s data protection and privacy framework within its insurance broking operations in Ireland. This leadership role ensures the company complies with all regulations related to the processing of personal and sensitive data for clients, policyholders, employees, and other stakeholders. The Senior Manager - DPO works closely with the Head of Compliance and Operational Risk to put the Compliance Framework into practice and leads a team of Compliance and Operational Risk professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee the data protection framework to align with Group policies.
  • Regularly review and maintain the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) in line with EU GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Act as the compliance lead for retention projects and related business initiatives.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for data protection queries from business units.
  • Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interests Assessments (LIAs) for new or updated processing activities and systems.
  • Engage with the Data Protection Commission on inspections, queries, and matters related to data protection, and coordinate with the Central Bank of Ireland on supervision-related data protection issues.
  • Hold monthly meetings with business areas and Marketing to review complaint trends and address compliance questions.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Compliance Framework in partnership with the Head of Compliance and Operational Risk.
  • Manage the compliance calendar, oversee team objectives and reviews, and run weekly team meetings.
