What We Are Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 12 years of mechanical design experience, with a strong focus on rotating equipment. Demonstrated expertise in pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, and aeration systems is mandatory. Experience in piping design and water/wastewater treatment facilities is highly advantageous. Familiarity with static equipment such as tanks, vessels, filters, and heat exchangers is a plus. Hands-on field experience in installation supervision, testing, or commissioning of water or wastewater treatment plants is a strong advantage, including participation in site inspections, equipment installation checks, and troubleshooting of treatment plant mechanical systems. Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Revit. Knowledge of international design standards and codes (ASME, AWWA, API, ISO). Excellent coordination and communication skills in English. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Proven track record of managing projects within scope, schedule, and budget.

Join AECOM as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Bucharest!

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Lead the design, specification, and integration of rotating equipment including pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, and aeration systems.
  • Prepare and review datasheets, calculations, specifications, and technical reports, focusing on rotating machinery.
  • Provide technical insights on piping systems and water/wastewater treatment equipment, such as screens, grit chambers, sludge handling, chemical dosing, and disinfection units.
  • Contribute to the review and coordination of static equipment like tanks, vessels, filters, and heat exchangers as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to project requirements, industry standards (ASME, API, AWWA, ISO), and client expectations.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with process, structural, electrical, and Instrumentation & Control disciplines.
  • Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and engage in design reviews.
  • Develop mechanical layouts, general arrangement drawings, and piping designs in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Assist in the preparation of material requisitions, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and project documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the design team.
  • Collaborate effectively with other AECOM offices and international project teams.
