Become part of Intuitive's Future Forward Team — Santa Clara, CA

At Intuitive, we are revolutionizing healthcare by creating cutting-edge robotic surgical systems that improve patient outcomes and redefine the surgical experience. Our Future Forward team consists of a dynamic, cross-functional group dedicated to developing innovative instruments and accessories for next-generation surgical robotics. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering initiatives for groundbreaking surgical robotic products targeting exciting new clinical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the comprehensive development of revolutionary surgical robotic systems — from initial concept and prototyping to manufacturing and market launch.

  • Lead and direct development workstreams, ensuring cross-functional team alignment on technical specifications for essential platform subsystems.

  • Collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines (software, electrical, clinical, manufacturing).

  • Make informed decisions based on risk assessments, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct technical design reviews to gather input on design progress and routinely evaluate designs from team members to provide constructive engineering feedback.

  • Develop and maintain SolidWorks CAD databases, encompassing assemblies, components, and detailed drawings.

  • Observe clinical cases and engage in collaborative sessions with clinical experts to shape designs.

  • Support pre-clinical and clinical laboratory activities.

We are a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators driven by a common mission: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our efforts enable care teams to perform with greater precision and help patients recover faster, enhancing outcomes globally. The challenges we tackle require creativity, diligence, and collaboration. The work is demanding yet profoundly impactful—because every enhancement we achieve can potentially change a life.
