About PhysicsX
PhysicsX is a deep-tech company based in London, United Kingdom, with roots in numerical physics and Formula One. The team focuses on developing AI-driven simulation software to accelerate hardware innovation. By combining high-fidelity, multi-physics simulations with AI inference, PhysicsX helps engineers optimize and automate design, manufacturing, and operations. Clients include leaders in Aerospace & Defense, Materials, Energy, Semiconductors, and Automotive sectors.
Role Overview
The Senior Multiphase CFD Engineer will work closely with customers, often on-site, to deliver practical solutions for advanced engineering challenges. This role centers on building and validating high-fidelity simulation models that integrate with AI tools, supporting informed decision-making across a range of industries.
What You Will Do
- Independently set up complex multi-physics models, including geometry clean-up, meshing, simulation, post-processing, and integrating experimental data for validation. Projects will span single-phase, multiphase, and coupled CFD-DEM regimes.
- Develop and validate DEM models for granular and particle-laden systems, such as fluidized beds, pneumatic conveying, mills, aerosols, suspensions, and coating processes, using appropriate contact models, size distributions, and coupling strategies.
- Create parametric CAD models linked to simulation pipeline automation, enabling advanced design optimization and Design of Experiments (DoE) studies across large parameter spaces.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and multiphase modeling, including experience with particle-laden flows, fluidized beds, and coupled CFD-DEM.
- Proficiency in at least one major CFD software: Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or Fluent.
- Experience with DEM codes such as EDEM, LIGGGHTS, or Rocky.
- Ability to automate simulation workflows for scalable optimization.
- Familiarity with parametric CAD modeling (NX or CATIA) is a plus.
- Python programming skills, or the ability to quickly learn new programming languages.
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience (after MEng, MSc, or PhD) in a commercial setting.
- Confidence to independently set up simulations, interpret complex results, and apply sound engineering judgment.
