The team’s work supports safer, more sustainable practices for farmers, construction crews, and foresters, aiming to boost profitability and reduce reliance on scarce labor. Precision and attention to detail guide every project, from individual pixels to entire workflows.
Role Overview: Senior Robotics Engineer
This role centers on developing and improving simulation infrastructure and robotics software to advance the company’s digital-twin and site mapping capabilities. Collaboration with other engineers and hands-on tool development are key parts of the job.
Main Responsibilities
- Create and maintain simulation infrastructure to support digital-twin simulation, enabling thorough testing and quick debugging.
- Design workflows and tools for job site mapping.
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve tools for processing raw and semi-raw sensor data for simulation use.
- Contribute to robotics software development using C++ and Python.
- Build visualization tools for camera geometry, including fields of view and overlap in multi-camera systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in developing camera visibility models, including camera intrinsics, distortion correction, extrinsics, and mechanical tolerances, using Blender and OpenCV (minimum 4 years).
- Experience designing and deploying distributed simulation systems on AWS for scalable digital-twin environments with real-time sensor data processing (any experience level).
- Ability to define and extend onboard and machine-to-machine communications using MQTT and DDS middleware, as well as Protobuf and OMGIDL message schemas (at least 1.5 years).
- Expertise in developing real-time simulation tools with ray tracing software to improve perception inputs (minimum 1 year).
- Experience creating and maintaining Bazel build targets for efficient builds across different computing architectures (minimum 1 year).
- Remote work from anywhere in the US is possible, with occasional office visits. Up to 10% domestic travel may be required for engineering testing.
