About the job

Our Vision

At Vertical Aerospace, we are at the forefront of revolutionizing electric aviation. Our flagship aircraft, the Valo, represents a groundbreaking step forward with its eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing) design, aiming for zero emissions while setting new benchmarks for safety in air travel.

We are committed to transforming the aerospace industry by breaking free from conventional practices. As we rapidly evolve from a prototype enterprise to a robust SME, the upcoming years are vital for our progress towards achieving our ambitious objectives. Our goal is to obtain airliner-level safety certification by 2028, paving the way for service integration with our airline partners.

Role Overview

As a Senior System Verification and Validation Engineer within the Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU) team, you will play a critical role in the Powertrain Squad. This team focuses on requirements specification, aircraft integration design, and system verification for the Electric Propulsion Unit, which includes the electric motor, power electronics, control systems, and thermal management.

The EPU is not only responsible for thrust generation but also plays a vital role in aircraft safety, with complex interactions with the flight control system, powertrain architecture, aircraft structure, and propellers. The system is being developed by a key supplier and will adhere to EASA SC E-19 certification standards in the context of the VX4 aircraft platform.

In this role, you will lead the verification activities for the EPU, collaborating closely with internal engineering teams, airworthiness authorities, suppliers, and external testing partners to create a comprehensive and certifiable verification program.

Your daily tasks will include defining verification strategies, assessing requirement verifiability, coordinating system-level testing, and collaborating with suppliers and testing teams to ensure the delivery of certification evidence that meets the required standards.
