Position Overview
As a pivotal member of Olsson’s Roadway team, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of transportation and infrastructure projects that foster safe, efficient, and sustainable communities. This role is tailored for an experienced roadway technician/designer who possesses strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the capability to work autonomously while maintaining collaboration with engineers, designers, and project managers.
Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of roadway design and project production from conception to construction. You will leverage advanced CAD and design expertise to create roadway layouts, alignments, profiles, typical sections, and construction documents, ensuring adherence to applicable design standards and project objectives.
Collaboration with engineering personnel to convert design concepts into coherent, precise, and actionable plans is fundamental. Your tasks will include coordinating design elements across various disciplines, resolving design challenges, and proactively identifying potential constructability issues, construction phasing, and traffic maintenance concerns. You may also assist with quantity calculations, cost estimates, technical memoranda, and responses to agency inquiries.
