About the job
Mapbox stands at the forefront of the real-time location technology sector, empowering businesses that are becoming increasingly location-aware. Our platform is uniquely designed to provide organizations with a comprehensive suite of tools that facilitate the navigation of individuals, packages, and vehicles across the globe. With over 4 million developers selecting Mapbox for its unparalleled flexibility, robust security features, and adherence to privacy regulations, our applications, data, SDKs, and APIs enable companies to create tailored, engaging experiences that captivate their audiences.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to building the critical systems that deliver real-time navigation solutions for Mapbox's largest international clients. Our team processes vast amounts of geospatial data using a sophisticated combination of high-performance backend services, data pipelines, and AI-driven workflows to identify, validate, and provide timely road updates, including traffic conditions and road closures. The intelligent AI agents we develop augment our foundational algorithms, ensuring our maps reflect the ever-changing nature of road conditions and helping millions of drivers arrive at their destinations as efficiently as possible.
Your Role
As a Software Development Engineer II on the Incidents team, you will:
- Collaborate with your team to identify and define clear tasks.
- Design and implement automated AI agents to gather data and detect road incidents using proprietary Mapbox signals.
- Utilize algorithms to filter out outdated information and consolidate duplicate reports into a unified, high-quality data source.
- Create systems that effectively disseminate this data throughout the Mapbox ecosystem.
- Work alongside the MapGPT team to enhance our Feedback Agent, enabling continuous improvement of the map through real-time user feedback.
As AI technology increasingly integrates into engineering processes, we seek engineers who can thoughtfully incorporate AI into design, development, and decision-making practices. Our interview process will explore your experience with AI in engineering contexts.
