The Notifications team at Airbnb is focused on crafting and enhancing essential notification systems that ensure smooth and efficient communication for our guests and hosts worldwide. We work closely with product teams to assess notification requirements and deliver scalable solutions. Our goal is to improve engagement, reduce user fatigue, and achieve significant business results through technology and governance.

You will collaborate in a global setting to translate product and engineering concepts into effective production systems. Your contributions will help to develop our notification platform, refine delivery timing, optimize channel selections, and create scalable solutions that support various product teams across Airbnb.
A Typical Day
- Work with engineers and cross-functional partners to clarify requirements, prioritize tasks, and define project scopes within your team’s roadmap.
- Engage in technical design discussions and align implementation details with team members and partner teams.
- Create clean, testable, and maintainable code for backend services and platform capabilities.
- Participate in on-call rotations and enhance operational excellence through improved runbooks, monitoring, and rollback readiness.
- Diagnose production issues, implement fixes, and enhance system reliability in your areas of responsibility.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and everyday collaboration.
