The Software Engineering Manager Role
As part of Okta's Core Engineering team, you will lead the evolution of shared infrastructure and services that underpin all engineering efforts. Our responsibilities encompass essential shared services like search, cache, configuration management, asynchronous job management frameworks, and email pipelines. Being cloud-native, we prioritize redundancy, multi-tenancy, scalable solutions, resource optimization, and resiliency. With Okta's commitment to being 'Always On!', there is never a dull moment. Your Responsibilities
- Lead a distributed team by setting clear expectations, removing obstacles, fostering collaboration, managing recruitment, and providing coaching and career development discussions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including managers, architects, product owners, project managers, and security engineers to implement best practices for resilience.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate cross-team projects that have a significant business impact.
- Contribute to defining the team's strategic direction and roadmap.
- Develop backend frameworks and tools for organization-wide scalability.
- Engage in incident root cause analysis to foster continuous improvement in reliability and scaling.
- Provide technical mentorship to team engineers.
- Drive the evaluation, development, and deployment of new services.
