About the Role
As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain robust backend and infrastructure systems, ensuring a fast and reliable experience for our users. You will collaborate closely with fellow engineers to develop the APIs, data models, and services that drive Semgrep’s products at scale. A solid understanding of databases, query optimization, and distributed systems is essential, along with experience in integrating third-party solutions into existing codebases.
Our technology stack includes TypeScript and React for the frontend, while the backend is powered by Python, Flask, and SQLAlchemy, all deployed through Kubernetes and hosted on AWS. Prior experience with these technologies is preferred, but a willingness to learn is equally valued!
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of in-office presence 3 or more days a week in our San Francisco, New York, Boston, or Denver offices, depending on your team. Remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates.
Compensation
The estimated annual salary range for this position is between $202,000 and $238,000 USD. The actual salary will be based on various factors, including job-related skills, relevant experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market data. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include equity, variable compensation, and benefits. We consider equity a vital part of our overall compensation package.
