Who You Are

As a Staff Scientist within our Analytics Team, you are a dynamic and hands-on analytical expert with a strong background in developing and validating analytical methods across various instrumentation. Your passion for analytical chemistry, material characterization, and process control drives your success. You approach complex technical challenges with curiosity and tenacity, maintaining high standards. Your resourcefulness and independence allow you to juggle multiple projects while delivering timely results in a fast-paced and evolving environment. You thrive as a collaborative team member, open to both giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Responsibilities and Duties

In this role, you will independently scope, plan, and execute intricate analytical development projects involving multiple stakeholders to enhance Sila’s measurement capabilities for both R&D and QC. Specifically, you will:

  • Identify and propose solutions that effectively meet business and technical needs, ensuring alignment across functions with engineers and management.
  • Evaluate, select, procure, and install necessary analytical instrumentation.
  • Establish best practices in sample preparation, instrumental analysis, data analysis, and result reporting.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), train team members, and conduct thorough Measurement System Analyses (MSA).
  • Prepare validation reports and present technical data to engineering and quality teams.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • A degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience (Bachelor’s degree), 5 years (Master’s degree), or 3 years (PhD) focusing on analytical method development.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques and instrumentation.
