About the job
About the Technical Traineeship
Van Hattum en Blankevoort in Vianen, Utrecht, offers a one-year Technical Traineeship for those finishing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. This program gives hands-on experience in building projects that shape the Netherlands, including bridges, tunnels, pumping stations, and sustainable energy solutions.
What to Expect
The traineeship includes rotations through four core departments: design, calculation and purchasing, work preparation, and execution. Trainees contribute to both national and regional projects, as well as work with our foundation company, VSF. Responsibilities grow quickly, and each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities.
Guidance and Support
Starting in a large organization can feel daunting, but support is built in. Each rotation begins with a dedicated mentor who provides coaching and guidance. A personal coordinator from the management team helps tailor the program to individual interests and goals. Trainees also build their own network, as colleagues are open to sharing their expertise.
Hear from a Former Trainee
"What attracts me most to a traineeship is that by the end of the year, I not only know where I feel most at home, but I also gain a broader perspective on the different roles within the company. This gives you a significant advantage as you better understand what others do, facilitating easier collaboration." – Koen Groenestein, former Technical Trainee
