About the job
ABOUT THE MASSACHUSETTS TECHNOLOGY COLLABORATIVE:
The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) is a pioneering public agency dedicated to fostering business creation and growth within the technology sector of Massachusetts, positioning the state as a leader in the global digital economy. One of its key divisions, the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), acts as the central broadband authority for the state.
WHY JOIN OUR TEAM:
At MBI, we are embarking on a transformative initiative to ensure Internet access for all residents of Massachusetts by enhancing the availability of affordable and reliable broadband services. Thanks to significant federal investments, MBI is committed to developing and managing programs that create new job opportunities, improve healthcare access, enhance educational experiences, and elevate the overall quality of life for residents. We are at the forefront of closing the digital divide, and we seek individuals who are passionate about making this vision a reality.
Despite 98% broadband coverage in Massachusetts, ranked 5th in the U. S., critical efforts remain to address affordability and expand access to internet-connected devices and digital literacy training. MBI will oversee the state's broadband and digital equity investment strategy.
Recognizing the extensive communications needs within MBI, we require a dedicated Communications Project Manager who will function at the intersection of MBI leadership, program management, and the MassTech Communications Team.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and mission-driven Temporary Project Manager of Communications to join our dynamic team. This temporary role provides an exciting opportunity to elevate MBI's initiatives and bring attention to projects that significantly impact our residents. The responsibilities include planning, developing creative communication strategies, and managing content and events for MBI's program portfolio.
This position reports directly to MBI’s Associate Director of Ecosystem & Programs and operates within a matrixed team structure, with 50% of the division comprised of Program Managers and the other 50% from the Cross-Portfolio Team, including Operations, GIS, and Outreach & Engagement functions.
