PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program is designed to foster the growth of aspiring veterinary technicians through a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine. You'll work closely with our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians, gaining invaluable insights into the field.

As an extern, you won't just be an observer; you'll actively participate in the excitement of an emergency room environment. From patient triage to diagnostics and inpatient care, this program provides you with a comprehensive view of what a career in emergency medicine entails. This is your opportunity to build a solid foundation, get motivated, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn from some of the top professionals in emergency veterinary medicine.
  • Work alongside a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for real-time mentorship and on-the-job training.
  • Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Practice skills outlined in your school's proficiency checklist with guidance and support.
  • Experience the teamwork, urgency, and compassion that are hallmarks of emergency care at VEG.
