GHGSat is a pioneer in greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services for industrial and governmental clients worldwide. Utilizing our own satellites and airborne sensors, combined with third-party data, we empower industrial emitters to gain a better understanding, control, and reduction of their emissions.
We are seeking an Operations Technician to join our operations team at our Calgary or Montreal office. In this role, you will be responsible for processing data collected from our Earth observation instruments and facilitating the delivery of products to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Daily processing of greenhouse gas measurement data from our satellites and airborne sensors, including understanding input variables, converting files and data formats, executing code, and interpreting results.
• Performing quality control on automatically generated data.
• Preparing, validating, and delivering data products and reports to clients, and supporting the sales team in understanding these products as needed.
• Understanding and executing client purchase orders.
• Collaborating closely with the operations team to identify inefficiencies in our processes and proposing and implementing improvements.
Qualifications:
• Interest in remote sensing data processing and working in an operational environment.
• Strong listening skills and ability to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team (clients, engineers, scientists, program managers, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, deadline-sensitive environment, utilizing Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail in executing repetitive daily tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with GIS software (QGIS, ESRI Enterprise, ESRI Online, and/or ArcGIS Pro).
• Experience in handling and transforming geospatial data formats (raster, vector, GeoJSON, etc.).
• Knowledge of databases and basic SQL concepts.
• Interest in and knowledge of remote sensing and the space sector.
• Basic understanding of command line scripting.
