About the Role
We are seeking customer-centric software engineers passionate about developing tailored solutions that harness OpenAI’s APIs to address real-world challenges. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer (FDSWE), you will engage with both our customers and OpenAI’s engineering teams to architect and deploy scalable solutions that tackle their most complex issues. You will design effective abstractions to enhance our delivery speed and quality across all Forward Deployed interactions.
In this role, you will work closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architects, and Customer Success Managers dedicated to the same accounts. Additionally, you will collaborate with our Research and Applied Product Engineering teams to relay valuable customer insights.
This position is based in Dublin, utilizing a hybrid work model of three days in the office weekly. Relocation assistance is available, and travel may be required up to 50%.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Engaging closely with key customers to thoroughly understand their business needs and technical specifications.
Designing and developing comprehensive full-stack solutions using an iterative, experimentation-driven methodology.
Drafting detailed scopes of work and project timelines for both proof-of-concept and full-scale implementations.
Acting as a technical expert and trusted advisor, working hands-on with customer technical teams to drive projects to fruition.
Collaborating with Product, Research, and Applied teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences, successful project completions, and constructive product feedback.
Contributing to internal knowledge repositories, codifying best practices and sharing insights from customer engagements to enhance the Forward Deployed Engineering function.
You Will Excel in This Role If You Have:
A minimum of 7 years of full-stack engineering experience (excluding internships) in tech-centric roles, with customer-facing experience being highly advantageous.
Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks relevant to full-stack development.
A strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices for scalable applications.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in complex situations.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
