Focus Ireland is hiring a full-time Mediator for Youth Services in Dublin. This position centers on supporting young people who are at risk of homelessness due to family disputes or breakdowns with their primary caregivers. The Mediator will work to resolve conflicts and help prevent youth homelessness through structured mediation and collaboration with local agencies.
Main Responsibilities
- Facilitate mediation sessions for young people in emergency accommodation because of family conflict.
- Support youth referred by local social work teams, addressing disputes that could lead to homelessness.
- Deliver mediation in a range of family conflict scenarios, always aiming to reduce the risk of homelessness.
- Manage a caseload in line with best practices and evidence-based approaches.
- Communicate regularly with Tusla social workers to share updates and discuss emerging issues.
- Prepare and submit written progress reports to referring social workers.
- Send monthly reports to the Head of Youth Services at Focus Ireland.
- Attend formal supervision sessions with the Head of Youth Services on a regular schedule.
- Keep accurate and confidential records and case notes for all work carried out.
- Work closely with other Focus Ireland services as situations require.
- Take part in relevant training, development activities, and project evaluations.
- Collaborate with Focus Ireland’s research and development team to monitor outcomes against key performance indicators.
