Role overview
The Peer Counselor (CORE Guide) position in Olympia, Washington, relies on lived experience to build trust and help people reconnect with healthcare services. Core Guides play a key part in outreach, especially for those who have stepped away from or never accessed available support. This role blends the responsibilities of a Peer Recovery Specialist with firsthand’s mission to improve health and well-being.
What you will do
- Act as a main point of contact for individuals living with serious mental illness.
- Share personal experience to foster trust and meaningful relationships.
- Help people reconnect with healthcare services and reduce unnecessary healthcare use.
- Work closely with clinicians, benefits advisors, and other team members.
- Assist with scheduling, advocacy, and supporting individuals in reaching their goals.
- Encourage both behavioral and physical wellness through peer-led support.
