Who Are You?You have a genuine passion for helping individuals with a refugee background. You possess strong analytical and questioning skills. A legal background is a plus but not mandatory. You are available for at least a half-day during office hours. You intend to commit to this role for a minimum of six months. You are respectful and engaged towards clients, colleagues, and partners. You enjoy creative communication methods, including non-verbal cues, translation apps, drawing, and speaking slowly and clearly as many of our clients are learning Dutch and may speak English. You are computer literate. You are willing to undertake several training sessions and committed to personal development.

About the job

The Support Coordinator for Family Reunification and Residency Documents helps status holders in Gouda navigate pivotal moments as they settle in the Netherlands. This role focuses on guiding individuals through family reunification, supporting with residency document extensions, and joining legal consultations. A legal background is not required; VluchtelingenWerk Academy provides thorough training and ongoing support.

Main Responsibilities

  • Answer questions from clients about their residency rights.
  • Guide refugees through each step of the family reunification process.
  • Communicate with lawyers, the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND), and other relevant parties.
  • Coordinate preparations for the arrival of family members and work with social support organizations.
  • Record activities and progress in the digital refugee tracking system.
