Expertise in analytical chemistry, particularly in inorganic and organic environmental chemistry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid grasp of processes and workflows. Dependable and reliable, contributing positively to organizational success. Ability to work independently, following instructions with minimal supervision. Capable of designing effective solutions for complex challenges in collaboration with others. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to convey information effectively.

Join our dynamic team at the SGS laboratory in City of Industry, CA as a Laboratory Manager. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. As a subject matter expert in analytical environmental chemistry, you will collaborate with Departmental Supervisors to optimize sample throughput and turnaround times, while consistently upholding data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage laboratory operations in alignment with budgetary and organizational objectives, focusing on quality analysis and sample throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality assurance, and environmental practices, fostering an effective laboratory environment.
  • Resolve technical and service challenges in collaboration with client services and service group supervisors.
  • Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency, meeting or exceeding industry data quality standards.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership through effective planning, delegation, and empowerment, while managing performance and staff training.
  • Oversee the hiring and training of competent laboratory personnel to meet operational needs.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and that all personnel are well-trained for their roles.
  • Manage the procurement of services and equipment that best suit the laboratory's needs.
  • Monitor consumable inventory to ensure it meets current workload demands.
  • Conduct regular inspections of laboratory operations to ensure compliance with quality assurance objectives.
  • Collaborate with support groups for proactive budget and resource planning, including analytical instrumentation and IT.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance with EHS management techniques, ensuring adherence to SGS targets and objectives.
