A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential.

About the job

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Supervisor to oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of all mechanical systems on-site. This role demands an individual with extensive expertise in managing daily operations of MEP subcontractors, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and specifications, monitoring progress, and upholding quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will act as a vital liaison between the engineering team and the on-site workforce, ensuring effective execution of mechanical works from the basement plant rooms to the rooftop equipment. Your leadership will be crucial in delivering high-quality projects within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. On-Site Supervision & Installation Management:

  • Directly supervise daily installation activities of mechanical systems, including HVAC (chillers, pumps, AHUs, ductwork), plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and gas systems.
  • Coordinate daily tasks of mechanical subcontractors to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to the approved schedule.
  • Track site productivity and progress against work plans, proactively addressing challenges related to manpower, materials, or equipment.
  • Interpret and execute complex mechanical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with design intent.

2. Quality Control & Assurance:

  • Enforce project quality standards through continuous inspections of workmanship, materials, and installation methods.
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications and international standards (e.g., SMACNA, NFPA, IPC).
  • Coordinate with the Field Engineer and QA/QC team for timely approvals of completed mechanical works.
  • Oversee key quality checks, including ductwork leakage testing and pipe pressure testing.

3. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Promote a safety-first culture, emphasizing protocols for high-risk activities such as heavy lifting and confined space operations.
  • Lead daily safety briefings (Toolbox Talks) for mechanical teams, ensuring compliance with safety practices and proper use of PPE.
  • Review subcontractors' method statements and risk assessments for mechanical installation activities.
  • Maintain a high standard of site cleanliness and safety.
