Join our innovative Motion Planning team at Motional, where your expertise in robotics and software development will contribute to the advancement of production-ready autonomous vehicles. In this pivotal role, you will engage in groundbreaking research, develop sophisticated algorithms, and create robust software solutions that ensure safe, comfortable, and intuitive navigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development of cutting-edge algorithms for motion planning in autonomous driving, focusing on advanced search-based methods, geometry-based techniques, and decision-making under uncertainty with an emphasis on probabilistic approaches.
  • Architect and integrate complex motion planning and prediction algorithms, driving their evaluation and refinement for real-world applications.
  • Design and implement a high-performance, scalable codebase that facilitates rapid exploration, prototyping, and thorough evaluation of innovative motion planning strategies.
  • Foster technical collaboration by seamlessly interfacing with upstream perception and prediction components and downstream trajectory optimization, tracking, and control components, ensuring optimal end-to-end system performance.
  • Utilize your extensive software development and research expertise to mentor others in best practices and principles, promoting a culture of technical excellence.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members, nurturing a culture focused on product-oriented engineering, rigorous research, and advanced development.

What We're Looking For:
